Influences from the laid-back northern reaches of Scandinavia and the frantic West Coast of America collide on Softcore's debut album in a shimmering example of the best that both countries have to offer. A fistful of angst-driven rock and roll riffs tempered by the layered harmonies that Scandinavian groups are famous for lay the groundwork for this rock-pop manifesto. Singer Kristin Blix's lyrics are almost literary at times; songs such as "Tired" and "Postcards From Heaven" shine a pastel light on the bi-polar human condition, while the songs "Already Gone" and "Don't Wanna Be Like You" throw contemptuous epithets at the vacuous lifestyles of the Hollywood hangers-on they encountered while writing the album in Los Angeles. Rage never sounded as pretty as it does on this stunning debut!
